THE DESIRE OF THE

RIGHTEOUS

" 23 The desire of the righteous [is] only good: [but] the expectation of the wicked [is] wrath.24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and [there is] that withholdeth more than is meet, but [it tendeth] to poverty.25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing [shall be] upon the head of him that selleth [it].27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool [shall be] servant to the wise of heart.30 The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise.31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

- Proverbs 11:23-31

Introduction:

þ Two kinds of righteous

1. Justified because Christ died for our sins. We became righteous in the sight of God ( Rom 1:1-5 )

2. Self righteous, as doing in himself without believing Christ. Doing righteousness not according to the will of God but to their own will. Example of this is the young ruler having conversation with our Lord Jesus Christ.

þ We must do what is right in the sight of God. ( I John 5:18 ). Many will condemned us like what our Lord Jesus have encountered in His earthly ministry that people misunderstood his righteousness. They says that the righteousness of Christ come from devil and they are hard hearted not listening to God’s Word.

þ We will live and do good because we are of God’s we are His children.

POINTS :

1. GENEROUS (v. 24-26 )

þ Another term maybe accommodating

2. NOT TROUBLEMAKER BUT        PEACEMAKER ( v. 29 )

3. DILIGENT ( v. 27 )

4. DO NOT TRUST YOUR RICHES

( v. 28 )

þ Trust in the Lord rather than the riches of this world.

þ All things will passed away but God will remain.

5. BEAR A FRUIT ( v. 30 )

þ Fruitful of good character ( Gal 5:20 )

þ We are new creature ( II Cor. 5:11 )

þ Be a soul winner

6. DO NOT BE TIRED AND BE FAITHFUL GOD WILL REWARD YOU ( v. 31 )

Conclusion:

þ Now in our days there are so many Christians that desire so many things rather desire the will of God.

þ Let us do what God desire . Lets do the desire of the righteous
