VICTORY IN LIFE AS A BELIEVER OF CHRIST
- 1 Corinthians 15: 57-58 - 2 Timothy 4:1-8
INTRODUCTION:
þ When we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior our lives is not the same anymore. An example would be the life of Apostle Paul that was once a Pharisee and was a persecutor of the early Christians. His former life was changed by God and ha lived his life being a follower of Christ Jesus (Galatians 2:20).
þ The life that we have in Christ is a life that is full of success because He was the author of it. It does not promise a life that is free from any battles for we will face it all throughout our lives but success is at hand if we stayed in the center of the will of God. God’s design for us is not always to be in our comfort zones because if we’re able to experience here on earth the feelings of deep happiness or everything seems to be right, the heaven would not be appealing anymore.
þ There are two faces in a Christian’s life: The hardship in escaping from the snares of sin and the maintenance of always being in the center of God’s will.
God wants us to:
1. BE YE STEADFAST
þ [1 Corinthians 15:58] Being consistent in adhering to a principle of action, unwavering, steady, firm to your conviction, steadfast, loyal to a cause. The reason for doing it is for our love to God (John 14:15) and for His glory. Being inconsistent put us in the state of being a loser and the one that is having a victory in our lives is the adversary of God.
þ The question is "Do we want to be consistent in the work of the ministry?”
2. BE YE UNMOVABLE
þ [1 Corinthians 15:58] no change in position, posture or direction. We must learn how not to be diverted by the schemes of the devil or the system of this world. We must walk forward to the goal that God has set for us, looking only unto Jesus.
þ Hearing the word of God will help us in the walks of our lives as a Christian. Apostle Paul gave a prophetical statement in 2 Timothy 4:2-4, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” There will come a time that even though people are hearing the word of God they will disregard it as an important thing in their lives.
þ The freedom of sharing the gospel in our times should be taken as a chance to serve the Lord. We must work now in telling the people about the Savior.
3. BE YE ABOUNDING
þ [1 Corinthians 15:58] Excess, plenty, great quantity, to be rich, to be filled. We should aim to do many great things for the ministry of God. The Lord wants us to be abounding in His works.
4. BE YE IN LABOR
þ [1 Corinthians 15:58] physical, mental, spiritual exertion of difficult work. Sacrificial act of service. Our service to God does not promise an easy task or job to do but if we’re able to see the progress and God’s provision all throughout the hard work, there is a sense of happiness that makes us forget the hardships we’ve been through.
Conclusion:
God did not prepare for us the ministry to stay in our comfort zones but in the battle zone. Those in the battle zone, always be alert and you always want to live and exist.
